FBYC is amalgamated with the Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club. It is a sea rowing club based on the Quay at Lower Town, Fishguard and is registered with the Welsh Sea Rowing Association.
Most of our members choose to row socially and see it as a way to exercise with like-minded friends while enjoying the fresh air and amazing scenery that the Pembrokeshire coast offers. Some crews do row competitively and have had recent successes in the league.
We currently have 3 Celtic Longboats and 1 boat rigged for sculling so members can row either sweep oar or scull in crews of 2, 3, 4 or 5. We also have two rowing machines located in the Yacht Club.
If you are interested in trying it, just come down to the Quay on Sunday mornings at 10.30 am – weather permitting. No experience necessary, it’s suitable for all ages from 12 years up…..and you’re never too old!
Contact us on Facebook-Fishguard & Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club if you would like further information.
Membership for a year costs just £6 for juniors and £50 for adults which also gives access to the showers and bar in the club house. Membership forms available from the foyer in the Yacht Club, just ask any of the rowers.
The first two trial rows are free but membership is necessary before the third row to ensure the club complies with the WSRA insurance requirements.
Ed Charlesworth is setting up a fund in memory of Nicky, who was a keen rower. The aim is to raise £6000 to buy the club a double coastal scull and to name it after her.
