Rowing

FBYC is amalgamated with the Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club. It is a sea rowing club based on the Quay at Lower Town, Fishguard and is registered with Welsh Sea Rowing as well as Welsh Rowing.

Most of our members choose to row socially and see it as a way to exercise with like-minded friends while enjoying the fresh air and amazing scenery that the Pembrokeshire coast offers. Some crews enjoy rowing competitively and have had recent successes in the league as well as internationally.  We have been taking part in many of the virtual Championships and Regattas which have taken place this year – enjoying much success as we break records and plough through personal bests.

We currently have three Celtic Longboats (Awel Las, Cwch Bill, Moby Dick), one skiff (Ninja) in which rowers can sweep or scull, one double scull (Nicky) and two single sculls (A Million Dreams and our blue training scull).  We also have six rowing machines located in the Yacht Club, with four of them being ‘state of the art’ Concept 2 machines which arrived in 2020.

No experience is necessary, rowing is suitable for all ages from 12 years up…..and you’re never too old!

Find us on our website (fgjrc.org.uk) on Facebook (Fishguard & Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club) or on Instagram (fishguardandgoodwickrowing).

Membership for a year costs just £10 for Juniors (under 18), £15 for Young Adults (aged 18-25 yrs old), £35 for Adult Individuals (over 25) and £50 for Joint Adults. Membership of the rowing club is conditional on also being a member of Fishguard Bay Yacht Club (fees to be found on the Membership page of this website) which gives access to the showers and bar in the club house. Please contact the Membership Secretary (Yasmin Barlow) on fgjrcsec@gmail.com if you’re interested in finding out more.

The first two trial rows are free but membership is necessary before the third row to ensure the club complies with the WSR insurance requirements.
